Chaotic-based particle swarm optimization algorithm for optimal PID tuning in automatic voltage regulator systems

Introduction. In an electrical power system, the output of synchronous generators varies due to disturbances or sudden load changes. These variations in severely affect system stability and quality. The generator is equipped with automatic voltage regulator maintain its terminal at rated voltage. Several control techniques utilized improve response however, proportional integral derivative (PID) controller most frequently used but parameters require optimization. Novelty. this paper, chaotic sequence based on logistic map hybridized particle swarm optimization find optimal PID for system. sequence-based initialization global best selection enable algorithm escape from local minima stagnation convergence rate resulting parameters. Purpose. main objective proposed approach transient by minimizing maximum overshoot, settling time, rise peak time values voltage, eliminating steady-state error. Methods. process parameter tuning, Chaotic technique was run several times through hybrid function, which accommodates advantages two commonly functions a minimum number iterations, gain value found. compared current metaheuristic algorithms including conventional optimization, improved kidney algorithm, others.
